New York Comic Con 2021 Recap

October 7-10, 2021 we celebrated New York Comic Con (NYCC). Con-goers gathered to New York City once again to experience the thrill of a physical event. Last year we celebrated NYCC digitally with reveals, giveaways, and a huge sale on select collectibles. This year for NYCC, it was a hybrid of both physical and digital for us at Bluefin, and we wanted to recap the event for those that may have missed out.

Let us start things off with what fans were able to experience at NYCC:

For those who were able to attend NYCC, there were three booths that were a must visit.

The first booth was the Dragon Ball exhibit. This booth featured a 20 foot tall statue of Great Ape Vegeta, which was the talk of the town on social media. You literally could not miss him while walking the show floor.

Aside from the gigantic statue, there were other Dragon Ball statues available for photo opportunities including: Ginyuu Force, Goku & Gohan Kamehameha, and the Dragon Ball Z cast lined up with an inflatable Shenron floating above.

Not too far from the Dragon Ball booth was the Demon Slayer exhibit.

This particular booth showcased all the amazing Demon Slayer collectibles from Tamashii Nations. Such collectibles include:

Proplica swords

  • Tanjiro
  • Rengoku
  • Zenitsu

Figuarts Mini

  • Main Cast (Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke)
  • Hashira (Giyu, Mitsuri, Obanai, Sanemi, Gyomei, Tengen, Muichiro, Rengoku, and Shinbou)

FiguartZero

  • Tanjiro
  • Nezuko
  • Zenitsu
  • Inosuke
  • Rengoku
  • Upper Moon Three Akaza.

Cutout stands of Rengoku, Tanjiro, and Nezuko were also available to take a photos with.

The final booth at NYCC was Tamashii Nations.

There, you were able to see various displays of Tamashii Nations collectibles from Gundam Universe, Metal Build, One Piece , Naruto, and of course Dragon Ball.

This was also the main booth where attendees could go to purchase Tamashii Nations collectibles and the coveted Event Exclusive.

This years Tamashii Nations Event Exclusive was the S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Song Goku Kaio-Ken -Event Exclusive Color Edition- (that is a mouthful to say). While it's availability opened to the general public on Saturday and Sunday, this figure would later go on sale on Premium Bandai US for US residents who were not able to make it to the show. Pre-orders have closed for this figure as of releasing this blog.

On the digital end of NYCC, Bluefinbrands.com offered a plethora of items that are only available during events. Our YouTube channel also featured a couple videos tailored for NYCC, which can still be viewed at your own leisure. To top it all off, we had a HUGE Bandai Hobby giveaway across six (6) platforms across social media (Twitter, YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, and our contest page).

Storm Collectibles is known for bringing event exclusives to NYCC, and although they did not physically attend the event, we had announced two (2) new event exclusive figures that were available for purchase online: Evil Ryu from Street Fighter IV Ultra and Kung Lao from Mortal Kombat.

Similar to previous event exclusives released by Storm Collectibles, these two action figures are color variants of their regular release counterparts. Evil Ryu wears a green gi as opposed to his darker blue version, and for Kung Lao, he includes a brand-new effect that was not included in his regular release (Buzzsaw hat fatality effect). This effect does replace the Friendship effect (Rabbit) that is included with the regular version.

Nanoblock has finally debut on Bluefin Brands! There are so many choices to build with these micro building blocks.

During NYCC we offered six (6) different bundles from Nanoblocks: Fun & Fantasy, Hobby, Food, Pokémon, Space Invaders, and Pac-Man (image right).

Included with any purchase of those bundles are free tweezers which are perfect for assisting you in building them.

All bundles will continue to be available on Bluefin Brands in celebration of debuting during the event. While supplies last.

That's it for NYCC 2021. We hope next year will allow us to be there in person and go-all out. We hope everyone had a fun time whether it was physically at the show or digitally with us.
